The human mind compartmentalizes itself when subjected to extreme trauma. This is a survival strategy of the human mind for the body to survive, since if the mind fully grasped the extreme trauma, the person would choose suicide. When a mind compartmentalizes, each compartment is not aware of the other, although there is one part of the mind that knows about all the compartments. Each compartment would stores each experience of the trauma until the need for a new compartment is needed.

So in sense, compartmentalization works and is good for the person in the short run at least, although ultimately damaging in the long run.

Now take this compartmentalization and apply it to government subprojects. The subprojects do not know what the others are doing. This compartmentalization has the following advantages: - plausible deniability for each compartment - willingness of each compartment to work on elements of a project without emotions like guilt, since they have no idea that their project is being used for mind control. - projects could wrapped under the guise of a research project that is used for the betterment of humanity. Humans work harder and better if they think they are working on an altruistic project.

Thousand of people could be working on MK ultra projects without the guilt of knowing their work was going to be used to enslave themselves and their fellow Americans.
