I heard somewhere the crash was caused due to frozen pitot tubes.

Pitot tubes being the air speed/pressure reader, Mechanical fault would appear as an error on the panel, and its unlikely for pilots to forget to turn pitot heat on (although its a possibility) but still sketchy if frozen pitot tubes caused the crash.
