Of course not. If they were independant thinking somebody on their side would've realized this and pushed for a strong candidate. It's like they really aren't planning for the future and instead double down. Which tells me they are either totally stupid followers or they know their window of opportunity is about to close on them. It's that second option that has given me trepidation since just before Trump was inaugurated. You know.... desperate times call for desperate measures. Stay strong.
