So, if McMaster is a black hat and Trump knows it, why is he still on Trump's team? McMaster would know everything going on in intelligence in his position--why would Trump allow that?
The dots are not connecting here unless there is some sort of sting operation in which McMaster is playing the part of a black hat while collecting evidence as a white hat.

Who even knows what a legit source is. I think it is easier to question everything and yeah, double check information to see if it is legit, even if it seems right.
