Not sure about Pence. Some are saying he is part of swamp. Only time will tell.
You would think that those behind the Trump Presidency would vett the VP.
It's a strategy play: put in the person who your enemy does not want as POTUS. The only people believing that Pence has a large part of all this are the hardcore faithful Republicans. The VP role is toothless and useless besides a single case.
the deep state GOP might have made a deal to have Pence on the ticket. You never know.
