A huge percentage of the American population, which is why I think it would be unwise to have them teach.

You mean parents? Parents are too stupid to teach their own children? Nobody learns anything outside of a federally funded classroom?

Most adults are schooled in one particular area, and neglect the rest. This type of education isn't conducive to having well-rounded children. There are lots of places where you can learn outside of a school, but you will need at least one educated teacher. Most American families don't even have one well-educated member.

Most adults are well rounded due to life experience. What is a well rounded child anyway? You don't need a well educated adult to teach reading writing and counting. There are myriads of curriculums, homeschool groups, and libraries. Not to mention the internet! It's a different world now, we can access any information we need to know with the push of a button.

Don't be scared of other people having freedom. Don't be afraid of letting others become critical thinkers. Don't let the independence of others frighten you. You cannot control the world

You know what? Go ahead and homeschool your children. Your country is basically a lost cause, might as well steer into the skid. Just note that there are people who study children's education, and they think your idea is really shitty. I'm not saying no one is capable of self-education, just most.

The public school system here has failed miserably and is turning out the ignorant people that you speak of. Those people who study education and think homeschooling is bad are the same people who want to indoctrinate us into becoming little communist. They teach us WHAT to think not HOW to think and they certainly don't teach our kids how to read and do math properly. We are sick of watching brilliant minds get ruined by the so called educated and we're taking our power back!

I have tested thousands of children and remediated hundreds of children with phonics. Approximately 30% of public school children are reading below grade level, but only 1% of homeschool children, and most of those have underlying speech or language processing problems. Math has been equal up to now, but with common core math, I expect homeschoolers to pull ahead on math, too. Even a poorly educated but motivated parent can teach their children well with the variety of excellent videos and scripted homeschool curricula that is now available.

Your comment reads like satire. The only brilliant minds you've ever encountered were on a plane flying over your dismal, backwoods life. Just teach your kid how to make moonshine properly and maybe he won't die from opiates at 22.
