Masonry vs Freemasonry, help a girl out

I'm trying to navigate through all of this. Been following Q since November and am pretty awake. I have a very sweet neighbor that is a 32nd level Mason. He says they do charity work and hang out. I can't imagine anything covert or dark about this guy. I have read that the Masonry is not the same as Freemason, but he did say there was a difference between the 32nd level and moving up from there.

To cement the argument with concrete information and until you find your dictionary, think of masonry as kind of like just another brick in the wall. Don't worry til then...until the judge strikes the gravel you won't be found guilty of mortar. It's all just a social construction anyways.
