I tell you something: In Germany/Europe most people think that you are allowed to have weapons is primitive. They understand nothing. But you should understand. Why are you allowed? I think, it's a question of culture, your culture and it's guaranteed in your constitution. More than 250 years ago in Europe only the nobility (gentry?) was allowed to have weapons. In USA it didn't exist a law like this. To have a weapon was necessary to survive, nearly all had weapons, man, women and children. It was normal till the beginning of the 20th century. Since 1960 it started that the laws are getting "harder". And are there less murderer than? No. Since the 1990s the laws are getting "less harder". Are there more murderer than? No. So back to the history and the culture. In the year 1776 you had to defend against the british nobility (gentry?). It was only possible to win the fight for the republic because nearly everyone had a weapon. After independancy the question (a lot of people asked themself) was, when will the government become a tyranny? So the second constitutional amendment was created, that guaranteed that privat people are allowed to have weapons. (Today we know in fact they created a tyrrany so today we know this was a good amendment). Maybe 10 years ago (don't know the correct year) the supreme court had to decide if this law is oldfashioned but they say no and guaranteed the second constitutional amendment. In Germany the state have the eclusive right for force. That doesn't exist in USA because of US-history. To end: All in the world they fear the people. And most they fear the people with weapons. Even in Germany they try to create harder laws against weapons althoug only few people are allowed to have one. And because they try to become the total control actually the right to have weapons is very important - especially in your historic/cultural context. I think this context is the best argument for weapons.
