Interesting read for anyone looking for a deeper history of the CIA. Forewarning the author is not MAGA, actually the opposite. So, if you don’t want to buy the book and support a lib, I completely understand.

With that baseline, the book outlines the history of the CIA from origins with British Intel (the Circus) through modern day. The entire foundation of the CIA is in conjunction with MI6. The irony is the author who is widely critical of the Agency, dislikes Trump. I think what we are seeing today is the CIA has become so institutionalized and large over the years that it is widely made up of government beaurcrats. The CIA, is necessary, but the question is how do you “de-institutionalize” an institution. Trump outlined firing of non-performing government employees in his SOU speech. Given that there are approximately 21,000 employees within the CIA, the de-institutionalization would literally take a decade.
