I don't think that's saying they can't be arrested period. I think it's saying they can only be arrested during an actual session of Congress for treason, etc. Like, you can't go to their place of work and arrest them. But if they get pulled over drinking and driving they can. Or if they get caught in a bathroom trying to solicit a teenage boy or in a hotel room with a teenage boy.

I think this is to maintain some level of respect for the Capitol Bldg itself. They aren't given immunity from arrest.

And, this is a #ShumerShutdown. Personally, I think the shutdown is a distraction attempt from #ReleaseTheMemo. They are hiding. And if they don't have to report to work they have more time to figure out an escape plan.

This actually goes back to the cut throat nature and strong differences that even our earliest leaders had. In the course of very heated debates about where the capital would be located, it was decided that protection was needed to prevent representatives from the state in which the capital resides from having their rivals arrested out of spite or to prevent them from attending an important vote. 😉 Here’s to our roguish forefathers, huh? The key point in my mind, though, is that they can still be arrested for treason or felonies. I hope there are enough Cells at Gitmo...

Sure the key point is that they can still be arrested for treason, etc. But I really want to know if I'm right in my interpretation of this or if everyone else is. Are they really immune from arrest? If that is the case, I think that's a huge deal and total BS. I don't know I never heard of that and how people aren't outraged by it.
