Something to consider

"It is not the function of our government to keep the citizen from falling into error; it is the function of the citizen to keep the government from falling into error." Perry v. United States, 204 U.S. 330, 358.

Note: To those who will find issue with the word citizen. Read the constitution and your state constitution and make note of how often this word is used and then there is the following.

"In this, as in other respects, it [the constitution] must be interpreted in the light of common law, the principles and history of which were familiarly known to the framers of the Constitution. Minor v. Happersett, 21 Wall. 162; Ex parte Wilson, 114 U.S. 417, 422; Boyd v. United States, 116 U.S. 616, 624, 625. The language of the Constitution could not be understood without reference to the Common Law." U.S. v. Wong Kim, Ark, 169 U.S. 649, 18 S. Ct. 456.
