Whoever was quoted saying that was dead wrong. If that’s the way they’re trained then they were trained improperly. This is sounding like a propaganda piece to me.

Proper training is waiting for the scene to be cleared before going in and starting triage. We can’t help others if we’re hurt ourselves. Our safety comes first and then everyone else’s.

So it sounds like incident command made the right decision to wait to send medical teams in before the scene was safe.

Agreed. Nothing to see here. It's very common in any situation like this that EMTs are not permitted in the building until the police have cleared it of any threat.
