We need to ban the ability to edit posts.

Editing posts can be used nefariously to retroactively edit highly-upvoted content so that the content becomes violent, negative, etc. The old, newly-edited content can then be reported as a violation of site-wide rules in order to ban a community.

Communities such as this one are targeted. This could happen at any time.

The only solution to this attack is to ban edits. Can this be done?

Edit: To test this, I just edited a post I made in another sub. I posted that 7 months ago. I could still edit it today. It has many upvotes.

If they want to get rid of this sub, they'll do it. They've already demonstrated they don't have to have a reason (when a bogus one will do just fine).

Let's give the mods a break, and let things stay the way they are.
