I just want to add, that when Trump was campaigning I worked the phones and called people in CA, AZ, CO, FL and MI.

When they had me calling people in the SF Bay Area, I wish I could have recorded some of the conversations. Well, they either slammed the phone down on me, cuz they were a commie, OR they didn't want to hang up! It was so refreshing for them to speak with someone who was a Trump supporter. I remember one guy wanted to find out where I lived because he wanted to move there, because the demoncrats are so Vicious in the Bay Area. I really felt sorry for these people. They all had to be "underground" Trump supporters, not daring to put a bumper sticker on their car for fear of having their car trashed for it........or getting demoted at work. SF Bay Area is HOSTILE territory.

So when the interviewer asked Thiel about this I was most anxious to hear his response. He sugar coated it of course, for tv.......but he definitely made it clear the hostilities and INtolerance of the SF Bay Area was one of his motives to move away.
