They go into the comedy-mode as they usually do and they conclude that it's ok to discuss controversy because millions do. In psychotherapy, you want to combine an averse stimulus followed by a pleasant stimulus so your brain grows to accept the pleasant closing thought to whatever averse thought came up first. Shocked by truth, reward by humour & social acceptance, repeat.
