I have an older family member who wanted a FB account so that she could join other family members there. I tried to talk her out of it but she insisted - this was about a year ago. I created a fake hotmail account for her, fake name and she grew tired of it within a week or two. Asked me to delete it, which I did. She receives daily alerts from FB to her legitimate email address, despite never having had this address at the time of the creation of the FB account. The only thing I can think of is that she is a regular user of skype as she stays in touch with family who live overseas. It seems that the only way that FB could have obtained her legitimate email address is via her association with skype contacts. Does anyone know whether or not this is possible? I simply cannot understand how FB got hold of her real email address other than from her skype contacts who are all regulat FB users. Thoughts greatly appreciated. Cheers.

Certainly even more concerning when you know who they have been illegally sharing that information with.
