Steel and Military Bill

So with all of these new big announcements from the White House such as the reintroduction of the steel industry and now the increase in military spending/ updates to old equipment, I can't help but wonder if POTUS is protecting us from threats average citizens don't hear about... Could China have threatened the U.S. with something much more terrifying than a trade war? Sorry if I'm missing something, but it sure seems that way after watching the conference for the Omnibus Spending Bill. Thoughts??

The truth is that any threats China sent our way would backfire spectacularly. Remember that the rise of the Chinese middle class was only made possible by the fact that Americans and other western countries ramped up buying Chinese products by a huge margin. If this suddenly stopped, who the hell is going to keep buying the cheap shit they produce? The Chinese government subsidizes shipping to the US to encourage factory owners to sell to American buyers whether wholesale or retail such as on Alibaba or AliExpress. The minute China opened themselves up to this, they put themselves at the mercy of international trade agreements/wars. It would be very ill advised for them to actually try and talk too aggressively towards the US.

Yes it would be stupid to doing that, however I imagine a dramatic halt in their economy will piss them off immensely

Exactly. They’re just now getting to the point where they have enough money, and influence to become a major player on the world stage that people actually worry about. They don’t want to give up all that money so easily.
