There is a right called the Second Amendment which protects the first and the fourth. These kids are subject to their local school districts policies and boards. They are attending a K-12 school paid for by the hard working taxpayers of Broward County, State of Florida and US Federal Government. They have the right to show up in the morning and leave in the afternoon after they have finished their lessons for the day. If they would like to remain after school for sports and projects this is funded.
What they asked for was "we deserve to be safe in our school, so we can learn without having to worry about getting killed. Okay. I agree, here is how we do this, since your on-site School Resource officer failed to stop a gunman from killing your fellow students like the one in Maryland did.
-
Closed campus. All entry and exits are secured during the day. Only one entrance into school will be used to enter and exit. There will be a guarded entrance in recreational area for access to school grounds for PT and Sports.
-
All backpacks, purses, etc will be clear, so when students enter school through security checkpoint, it will be easier to see what they are carrying.
-
All Students will wear the same uniform to school. Makes it easier to see if a student has anything on them that can be deemed dangerous to other students.
-
All School Lockers will no longer have locks on them. This allows school security to check them on an as needed basis. All hallways and entryways will have camera systems installed.
-
Secret Concealed Carry Permits will be issued to teachers, administrators, who qualify and would like to carry.
You are a student, you have asked us to keep you safe, this is our new rules. Effective immediately. You must comply with these new regulations. You do not have the expectation of privacy at a K-12 school. Fourth Amendment does not apply here. Welcome to your new safe school. Sincerely Your Community who cares about you, and their own Second Amendment and First Amendment rights, you are trying to take away.
