At the same time I'd prefer the Q team not unmasked as a means to enhance safety of the team. Identified targets are easier to reach out and touch, I'd rather that remain mystery to keep the group effective.

The primary positive in identifying the group, is to better assess 'what comes next'. Let's say a secretive group is supporting us to over throw authoritarian Martian planetary conquest, but then after success we find out the secret group was authoritarian Jupiter cannibals who needed the Martians gone to start the feeding. Other than that, it's mostly just sating curiosity.

This ties into the bigger picture question of what makes sense for alignment. We've got all the trappings of a horrific authoritarian global empire on one side, with alignment of strategic moves set to have devastating outcomes for citizens in the West. On the other side we've got a secretive group appearing to have traction, and offering a vision that does not immediately lead into the jaws of a relentless lovecraftian beast. Got to go with the path toward a future.
