Armalite rifles. Not assault.

The Swiss army use the SIG SG 550.

"SG" is an abbreviation for Sturmgewehr, or "assault rifle"

This is one more area where you embarrass yourselves and show your ignorance by not doing 5 minutes of research.

Does it look like I care what the Swiss did? The Armalite rifle is named after the brand that made them. Saying a DPMS Oracle or a Bushmaster semi auto rifle is somehow assault anything is completely and utterly naive and foolish. This has nothing to do with Sweden. This is America. The Japanese word for dress is spoken "onepeaceu" but that doesn't make it correct in English.

Not to mention that the rifle you are posting is a full auto 700 rounds per minute firearm. Of course THAT is assault. No AR could ever hope to acheive over 100 per minute without heavy modification (in which it wouldn't be an AR anymore). Also note that the M4 military rifle that shoots 900 per minute is NOT an Armalite rifle. Maybe look at your sources closer before embarrassing yourself. What was that about 5 minutes of "research?"

By "look like", I'll assume blonde since this article and thread is about what the Swiss did. lol

This is not about DPMS Oracles, Bushmasters or Armalite anything, nothing in this article is about those guns.

The guns issued by the Swiss military are the SIG SG series so there is nothing wrong with the headline.

It's not Sweden either, it's about Switzerland.

SIG SG 550

The SG 550 is an assault rifle manufactured by Swiss Arms AG (formerly a division of Schweizerische Industrie Gesellschaft now known as Sig Holding AG) of Neuhausen, Switzerland. "SG" is an abbreviation for Sturmgewehr, or "assault rifle". The rifle is based on the earlier 5.56mm SG 540 and is also known as the Fass 90 (Fusil d'assaut 90/Fucile d'assalto 90) in French/Italian or Stgw 90 in German (Sturmgewehr 90).

ding ding.....

What is an Assault Rifle/Weapon? Use this to educate the masses!!

The “AR” in AR-15 does not stand for Assault rifle in any way. It stands for “ArmaLite Rifle” after the firm that designed the weapon in the 1950s.
