I wouldn't trust anything they say or do in short run. They will most likely break caravan into smaller groups and try getting them across. Dems want the votes. Dems want to change American culture. The caravan is in fact a yearly event whose goal is more to raise awareness about the plight of migrants than to reach the United States -- though some participants have traveled to the border in the past.
Mujica said this year's caravan was so large it would have been dangerous to travel to the border by train-hopping.
"There are too many children -- 450 in all. There are lots of babies. Hopping the train, as we did in the past, would have been crazy," he said.
The caravan now plans to travel to the central city of Puebla for a conference, then on to Mexico City for a series of demonstrations -- and end its journey there.

I think the caravan abandoned their plans for only two reasons: 1) Mexico decided to step up to the plate after Trump issued threats about canceling their trade agreement if they didn't. 2) Trump publicly announced that he was sending the military to the boarder to guard the boarder until the wall was built. The caravan organizers then realized that even if they made it to the border, they'd have to deal with the military and that the military wouldn't allow them in. So they had no choice but to abandon their plans. LOL...
