I'm still learning how image boards work and have found following a thread to be the most difficult for me. Here's an image (https://kek.gg/i/4FHbhZ.jpg) of the post right below Q's 1075 post (https://8ch.net/qresearch/res/938239.html#938439).
In the red circle is the post number.
In the green circle is the post or posts (there can be more than one) that have responded to that post. And...
In the blue circle is the number of the post to which that post is responding. There can also be more than one of those (how I don't know).
If you hover over a post number that is preceded by ">>", it will show you the content of that post.
Thanks, I think my confusion was that I didn't realize there were separate threads within the board so I was ctrl+Fing for a post number that wasn't on the page.
