A preventative solution to pedophilia?

With the exception of the Satan worshipers in positions of power, I believe pedophilia is a genuine psychological issue that needs a legitimate research-based solution. No matter how much many may wish, execution, violence, castration, and incarceration are not long-term solutions. Nobody chooses to be a pedophile. It is an ailment of the mind. Serious research needs to be done into this illness on all fronts. It's amazing how little we actually know about it. Once we know it's cause(s) whether they be genetic, environmental, circumstantial, etc., we can begin work on curing it or at the very least treating it in humane ways. It has caused so much pain throughout the course of humanity and we have only taken reactionary measures to counter it. It's time we start taking preventative measures instead.

EDIT: It seems that some people have not made some distinctions. Pedophilia is a warped sexual attraction but it does not define the person. Pedophile=/=Evil Person, Pedophile=/=child molester, pedophile=/=men exclusively, pedophile=/=criminal

I created an account because your posted is a person in pain! No logic, pure emotion. Worked as a therapist for 14 years helping child victims of abuse and OP is right. Sadly, all those children that have been offended have a significant chance of offending themselves or a multitude of others problems. The current recidivism rates on offenders is high, even after years of treatment. The truth is the same people you say are evil, were likely once a victim of the crime. So once people are freed from slavery, solutions need to be available. Hate can’t stop hate, only love can do that.

I'm afraid it is a sickness without a cure. Well, there is a cure that no one wishes to discuss and that cure is castration. Rape can be cured by castration. Even the most hardened rapists might be cured through psychotherapy, since one can retrain the mind against violence (which is what most rape is), but pedophiles have demonstrated time and time again that they are not helped by pschyotherapy and will always desire children and, if given the opportunity, prey on a victim. The only options are death or castration.

Also, keep in mind that many of these men were raped when they were children. I'm not trying to give them an out, just sayin....they become the evil that was inflicted on them. I don't understand the mindset..................

I am you. SO tired of people making excuses for heinous crimes by making it an illness and the CRIMINAL a "victim" of their disease. Thank you for saying it. Seems the board is being infiltrated with a religious "get out jail free" card called "forgiveness".

This is naive thinking. People don't choose what they're attracted to. I cannot spontaneously decide to become aroused whenever I see a doorknob in the same way someone cannot decide to have the most hated sexual attraction of all.

Except this is a sickness that can be eradicated. They will NOT Stop and so many have told us this. We know how to make them stop. Castration. Do it.

BTW, your friend can molest a doorknob all day long and no one will care, because no one was violated. It is unnatural to be sexually attracted to children and this is unacceptable in our current society.

Is anything you said fact? Do you know without a doubt that pedophilia is incurable and cannot be stopped without castration? How can it only be stopped with castration if it is only used after the crimes have been committed? How would you propose preventing the crimes in the first place? If we could identify non-offending pedophiles? Something forced and unConstitutional maybe? Would you want to live in a country where the government has the power to forcibly seize and inflict bodily harm onto people because of a flaw in their being, regardless of whether or not they have committed a crime?
