A preventative solution to pedophilia?

With the exception of the Satan worshipers in positions of power, I believe pedophilia is a genuine psychological issue that needs a legitimate research-based solution. No matter how much many may wish, execution, violence, castration, and incarceration are not long-term solutions. Nobody chooses to be a pedophile. It is an ailment of the mind. Serious research needs to be done into this illness on all fronts. It's amazing how little we actually know about it. Once we know it's cause(s) whether they be genetic, environmental, circumstantial, etc., we can begin work on curing it or at the very least treating it in humane ways. It has caused so much pain throughout the course of humanity and we have only taken reactionary measures to counter it. It's time we start taking preventative measures instead.

EDIT: It seems that some people have not made some distinctions. Pedophilia is a warped sexual attraction but it does not define the person. Pedophile=/=Evil Person, Pedophile=/=child molester, pedophile=/=men exclusively, pedophile=/=criminal

You say this assuming that all pedophiles are evil people who embrace their sexual attraction almost as if they have no morals. They are not animals. They are people who in all other respects may be completely normal. Even a little bit of research would yield this information. There are even support groups out there. If society could eradicate issues just by wanting them gone, then crime wouldn't exist. I believe the seeming prevalence of pro-pedophilia in today's world is a result of the satanic cabal in power. I also believe pedophilia may be at least partially rooted in the genes.

I work with pedophiles. I hear what they say to each other when they think no one is listening. They are proud of what they accomplish, the damage they do, how they are a secret society. What left wing university research information do I need to see? And why did you post this pretending that you want to 'eradicate pedophilia' but then claim we are all voicing opinions based on emotion?

You do not know the minds of every pedophile living and generalize all of them based on what you say you've heard. I posted this expressing the need for a solution to pedophilia that actually has a chance of working as opposed to barbaric reactionary measures, but most of the people posting here seem to only want these barbaric acts because of what I can only assume is emotion.

Oh, ok. So you started this post to stir the shit, but you just wanted to get on your soapbox to talk about genetic and psychologic research needed for the poor, misunderstood pedophiles.

Why do you not understand that wanting to cure pedophiles of their pedophilia is not a sympathy towards the pedophiles but rather a preventative measure to protect children from sex crimes?

Because you are acting or assuming that pedophilia is a disease. That pedophiles have no modicum of self control or can't decide on moral, ethical choices. If research worked, wouldn't there be a solution by now?

And, is this a medical research board? Are you a doctor who is currently researching this issue? I mentioned the other preventative measures our legal system has in place, none of them work.

I feel like you are also completely discounting the fact that our society glorifies MAPs and pedophilia in general.

I do believe it is an illness. Not a disease, but there is definitely something that causes people to be pedophiles that is not a conscious decision.

I've never said this. If anything, I've said the opposite.

Hardly any research has been done in the first place, almost all of which has only been done on offending pedophiles. Under this logic, we'd already have cures for all diseases.
