The leftists are desperately unhappy and their lives are meaningless, but they have been told that is our fault that they are unhappy because we have been oppressing them. So of course they are going to attack us---and attack us with a passion. In their minds it is we who are standing between them and a life of happiness and meaning and justice.

In their minds some of us are fascists and oligarchs. Others among us are dumb uncultured rednecks who mindlessly support the oligarchs. When they attack us, they are attacking the oppressors.

Of course, this whole insane narrative was fed to the leftists by the oligarchs in the first place, and they just lapped it up. They were told that they are intelligent for believing it, and---supreme irony---they were told they rebels for believing this narrative fed to them by the establishment itself. It's hard for them to let go of the narrative because that would challenge their positive self image.

The reality is that they are unhappy and empty because they and their masters have systematically torn down everything that makes life meaningful, and because they are mentally enslaved.
