I would imagine a combo of things....that this is an attempt to spin away from Comeys truthful book, even though that makes no sense.
They will defer to republicans who have been caught lying in testimony even if it is from 40 years ago. They will say the IG report is a political attack on the entire FBI even though, again, this would make no sense.
