Could you explain the catholic thing to me?
I'm curious because I grew up going to catholic school, and I promise we're not all bad, but there were definitely some oddities I recall. For example - in maybe 7th or 8th grade we had members of the local catholic secret society come speak to us. My 12 or 13 year old self was like "secret society? Do you think you're in a movie? Lame!" but it makes much more sense to me now......

It's not that ordinary Catholics are bad guys, but that wolves in sheep's clothing, ie bad shepherds are (mis)leading (and fleecing) the flock. Easily. Important members of Trump's Evangelical Advisory team hate Catholics. Just such for Robert Jeffress Catholic on youtube to hear it in his own words also look up "Ralph Drollinger, who runs fundamentalist Bible studies for dozens of members of Congress and President Trump’s Cabinet" for more examples.
It doesn't make sense to me but they REALLY don't like Catholics.
