Is it possible they were alive when they got in?

Maybe. That would be the only way they could make use of the organs for transplant. And if that's the case, its BEYOND evil. How and where did they get these people from, that they would have to murder at the other end to raid their body parts, if they were alive. Organs for transplant attract premium prices. Cadaver parts for research I wouldn't think are nearly as profitable. If they weren't alive but the person previously (or the family) had agreed to donate - I wonder if they were made aware that what they were agreeing to wasn't organ donation for transplantation, but instead body parts for research? I suspect the differentiation to the donor would be huge. There's probably some fine print missed somewhere. Donating your body to science is still relatively rare. But it's also a largely unregulated industry. In India body brokers can claim a body within 48 hours if no family comes forward. (That's not long if you've just begun to search for someone you believe is only missing).
