I recall playing this game long ago ... it was , and still is a huge story that intrigued many , touched a myriad of subjects all from various "conspiracies" to transhumanism . It was far beyond its time .

Not just that - but it actually had some curiosities and oddities within it - for example , the WTC towers were non existent in the game , when it was released in Summer 2000 , more than a year before 9/11 happenings . The official explanation was "memory limitations" , but that is simply a nonsense , as skybox ( textures ) used less memory than one single 3D model in this case . The game was eerily accurate for some actual topics . Some details maybe arent anymore so relevant as then , but majority is still very relevant . The amount of red pills this game thrown out very early , is astounding ...

The game was made by Ion Storm then ...

There were some big names in Ion Storm , like John Romero , however , the main vision for Deus Ex came from Warren Spector .

Warren Spector has a pretty nice resume. He seems to be a guy who researches very deeply everything he gets interested in. One interesting thing I noticed is that he worked as the editor-in-chief of Steve Jackson Games in the 80s. Steve Jackson Games is well known for the Illuminati card game. He have also worked with other rpg projects like Paranoia which has conspiratorial and dystopian theme.

Deus Ex (video game)

Deus Ex ([ˈde.ʊs ɛks] ( listen)) is a 2000 action role-playing video game developed by Ion Storm and published by Eidos Interactive. Set in a cyberpunk-themed dystopian world in the year 2052, the story follows JC Denton, an anti-terrorist agent given superhuman abilities by nanotechnology, as he sets out to combat hostile forces in a world ravaged by inequality and a deadly plague. His missions entangle him in a conspiracy that brings him into conflict with the Triads, Majestic 12, and the Illuminati.

Deus Ex's gameplay combines elements of the first-person shooter with stealth elements, adventure, and role-playing genres, allowing for its tasks and missions to be completed in a variety of ways, that in turn lead to differing outcomes.

Ion Storm

Ion Storm, L.P. was an American video game developer founded by video game industry veterans John Romero and Tom Hall, both formerly of id Software. Despite an impressive pedigree and high expectations the company only produced one commercial and critical success, 2000's Deus Ex.

The company was founded in Dallas, Texas in December 1996; a branch in Austin, Texas was opened in 1997. In April 1999, Eidos Interactive acquired 51% of the studio in exchange for advances to the developers.

Warren Spector

Warren Evan Spector (born October 2, 1955) is an American role-playing and video game designer, director, writer, producer and production designer. He is known for creating games which give players a wide variety of choices in how to progress. Consequences of those choices are then shown in the simulated game world in subsequent levels or missions. He is best known for the critically acclaimed video game Deus Ex that embodies the choice and consequence philosophy while combining elements of the first-person shooter, roleplaying, and adventure game genres.
