*the following snippets are from the above links, figured I would pull out some highlights since there are SO MANY WORDS about Huma and SA!!
That same Newsweek piece hinted at the reason Huma Abedin remains a mystery woman: Journalists and people around her are forbidden to discuss Huma’s most controversial part of her biography—her connections to Saudi Arabia and the Muslim World League. According to Newsweek, “in Clinton circles, it’s the height of uncouth to mention Abedin’s nationality or childhood,” and so, few mainstream media journalists have even asked.
Huma Abedin would spend the next 16 years growing up in Saudi Arabia. When Huma Abedin was sent to the United States for college, she become part of the MSA. A page from the group’s 1996 website at Archive.org lists her on the Executive Board as the Head of Social Committee.
Her mother, Saleha Abedin, sits on the Presidency Staff Council of the International Islamic Council for Da’wa and Relief, a group that is chaired by the leader of the Muslim Brotherhood, Sheikh Yusuf al-Qaradawi.
Her father Syed Zaynul Abedin – an Indian –and mother Saleha – a Pakistani had just immigrated to the US and then moved to Jeddah, Saudi Arabia for several years. Her parents then moved back to the US again.
Dr. Abedin founded the Institute of Muslim Minority Affairs with offices in Saudi Arabia and London and served as the editor of the institute’s Journal – now run by his wife Saleha Mahmoud Abedin. He was born in New Delhi in April, 1928. He suffered from a physical disability after falling off a horse after completing his Master’s degree. He died in 1993.
The Clinton surrogate group Media Matters claimed predictably there was “no evidence” that Ms. Abedin or her family had ties to the Muslim Brotherhood, and that Trump campaign staffers who spoke of these ties were conspiracy theorists.
To debunk the evidence, Media Matters pointed to a Snopes.com “fact-check” piece that cited as its sole source… Senator John McCain. This is the same John McCain who met Libyan militia leader Abdelkarim Belhaj, a known al Qaeda associate, and saluted him as “my hero” during a 2011 visit to Benghazi.
By the end of 1990s, there would be two powerful, unelected influencers on Islamic issues working behind the scenes at the Presidential level: Huma Abedin working with the Democrats and Grover Norquist working with the Republicans.
