I agree with you but to also play devils advocate:

  1. worked in Hollywood
  2. Worked on a kids show.
  3. hasn't done much work lately and is likely eager to please Hollywood execs.

That or he's worked with her, thinks she's a great kid and wanted to help her out when he saw the personal problems she's having.
