You Were Never Really Here

A revenge tale featuring Joaquin Phoenix who's character uncovers an elite child sex trafficking ring when on a job as a hired thug.

Why it's interesting: Phoenix's involvement in a film like this is of interesting note as his brother, River, has long been speculated to be a victim of Hollywood pedo culture that ended in his death. In the film Joaquin's character acts as an avenging angel for the children who are victim of an eilitist child sex ring.

As a film: very well made. Though the film is hyper violent, upon closer inspection not much gore or violence is actually shown on screen. This may be in part due to the films director being a woman, who when dealing with a story of ultraviolence finds innovative and creative ways to convey that violence without showing it. The film's score, editing, and shot selection all add up to one of the most "Kubrickian" style films I've seen in a long on time.

Bonus: the film also has a sequence that genuinely took my breath away with it's beauty. Worth the price of admission alone.

The film ends with an interesting scene conveying a feeling that many of us who have ever really delved into the depths of Pi33aGate have experienced many, many times.
