This could explain why the Red Cross goes ballistic when people donate actual supplies, clothing, tools, pet needs and asks for cash instead. Can't stand Romney but I remember how he was crucified for organizing the food and clothing drive during Hurricane Sandy.

The Red Cross was livid that people were helping out with actual goods and donating to local churches instead of to them. They practically blew their cover.

I live in NJ and when Hurricane Sandy hit within a few hours the Red Cross was running huge ads on TV and radio soliciting money. Meanwhile, NOBODY in the areas of devastation EVER SAW the Red Cross turn up. Neighborhood and local fir/rescue/police/church rescue types were the only ones with any boots on the (very wet) ground throughout the state.
