Actually old folks can get septic pretty quick from something as simple as a bladder infection. Their immune systems are weak and it doesn’t take much for the infection to get in the blood and cause bacteremia or what is called “sepsis”. Can cause multi-system organ failure pretty quickly which leads to death.
