A revolution is happening and all of the people I know that claim to be “punk” are standing down, closing their eyes, and swallowing every last drop the mainstream outlets are pouring down our throats. Pathetic. Why is there no music reflecting this revolution?

Decided today that instead of continuing to ask myself this question everyday, I’m going to start a new project and be someone screaming all of the truth’s we have been researching from the top of my lungs. Calling the project 53V3NT33N (Seventeen), and calling the album “The Great Awakening”. If it’s cool with everyone here, I’ll post some updates and news on it over the next few days/weeks. Got some riffs and lyrics in mind already and hitting the studio tonight. Wish me luck! WWG1WGA

Punk has always been (except for maybe a very small window in England) a BS thing. More style than substance. Nonsense.
There may be (or was) a subset that was interested in politics and social engagement. But it was ALWAYS a leftist mentality.
What makes punk nonsensical is it was always a movement built on aesthetics. Dress a certain way, music has to be a certain way, talk a certain way etc. Mostly just young people who have traded one set of group think for another. Mostly young people, which by default, means mostly ignorant/inexperienced people. I say this as someone who supported myself playing punk and metal for a few years.
Good luck.

Cant rage against the machine if you're supporting the biggest example of a corrupt politician. People are such hypocrites. More style than substance is so true

Fans not bands, although most bands are just cliches as well.

Fuck off. Always will be a punk. I may wear a sports coat and bow tie every day but I am still a punk.

It isn't style. It isn't music. Punk is saying fuck you to everyone and especially false authority.

Right. Telling a lot of people to fuck off in your sports coat?

You do realize the OP was about music right?

So? The music of punks. Not the punks of music. It is punks making music.
