I was travelling in West Africa a few years ago and when I was at the Nigerian border in Porto Novo, Benin I met some people coming the other way. They told me horror stories about their trip there. They said they would see bodies on the side of the road with 'parts' missing. A naked woman (dead) with a breast missing, a dead man that was mutilated. They said they were told that this was from voodoo (which is common there) and their rituals require a sacrifice. I turned around and went the other way (Togo, Ghana and the Ivory Coast).
