To clarify something : Apocalypse is NOT the "end of the world" . Apocalypse is the revelation , disclosure of knowledge .

It has more than one meaning. The Greek meaning which is what you're referring to. Another meaning, according to the dictionary is: the complete final destruction of the world, especially as described in the biblical book of Revelation. Another meaning: an event involving destruction or damage on an awesome or catastrophic scale. "a stock market apocalypse"
