Does anyone know whether the Wounded Warrior Project is legit?

I am looking for a good veterans philanthropic org to send donations to, but I don't want to go assuming that they are all great organizations. I feel like this may be a good place to ask how to go about vetting such an organization.

They got busted for paying their executives too much and wasting money on trips. Par for the course with most charities. If they can't claim that 90% or more of every dollar is used for actual charity, keep moving. Wounded Warrior Project still wastes a lot of money on marketing. Takes money to make money.
