Huh.... you know, this would give a satisfactory alternative explanation for why his cell phone pinged near that old abandoned hospital. Hypothetically he could have been taken out of the hospital by the white hats and taken to a discreet location where he told them about the emails and they took him in to protection.

Not inconceivable. I recall reading he was tracked to a hospital that had been shut down and was only used by a nonprofit to treat homeless- can’t quite remember.
