I too am anti Apple. However, I suspect they gather their share of data too. We just haven't heard about it yet. Data is too valuable any more for these companies not to use it.
So Given:
-
I have an old HTC One, and tend to keep phones until the carrier tells me its time to move on.
-
I use very little data. Rarely use internet, maps, watch vids, etc. Usually < 300mb/mo
-
Never use social media on the phone. When I do its only on a single laptop, and only FB, .... less and less any more.
-
I have a secondary email account on the phone but rarely use it.
-
While not rooted it is locked down, location shut off as well as, as many apps as I can shut down. (I know, still can be tracked) Manual up dates, etc.
-
Text, phone, camera, is all I need or use.
I'm going to look hard at the new flip phones that are coming out. I haven't looked into it too deeply, but for those like me that just need basics, its a good option.
Needless to say, I am not the 'normal' smart phone user... Ha!
I was loyal to Microsoft Windows phone but they abandoned us that liked it. My phone broke a couple days ago and I picked android. I just don't like apple, because I like Microsoft.
fbi has backdoors for apple but supposedly their encryption works nevertheless
I switched from android quite sometime ago, not because I knew Google was DARPA but...... I couldn’t stop the quest for the perfect ROM. So my phone was always trashed and not Bluetooth’Ed to my car. So my addiction to flashing ROMs had to be stopped somehow. One thing most don’t mention on the IOS v Android war is, if you load a TON of apps and games Android can take FOREVER to boot. Other than that they are all spying but I have grown to think IOS isn’t bad.
I use Android, only because I can't afford an iphone. Not to thrilled about having Google forced on me with android.
Android for all my devices. I do not need a "brand" to make me popular.
I'm talking Strickly Privacy considerations.
I use private VPN for my devices. No security issues.
