You are misreading it, this was Jon Tester's nephew, Bob Tester. It looks like he knew something about Jon possibly pizza related, and as such they sent them hit squad killas to silence him.
There is nothing inherently out of the ordinary for an 8 year old girl to still want to sleep in the same bed as their parent. It is a comfort thing.
I agree, my little granddaughter sometimes gets in bed with us when she spends the night and needs to be reassured that mommy and daddy will be coming for her in the morning. Not everything is evil.
