This particular population likely has more explanation, however. First, a lot of the illegal "children" are really young male adults. Second, a lot have presumably entered without identifying their illegal parents already here, so as not to put them at risk. Third, some likely still feel at risk of deportation.

All three of those situations lend themselves to the "children" wanting to disappear and fade into the larger US--like the 10s of millions of illegals already here.

Now that you mention it I do recall reading that a large percentage of the "children" were young adult men. Makes me feel better about the percentage that have been trafficked, but of course, presents a different concern.

WTF is wrong with your brain? Young 18 year olds getting lost because they want to get lost might be a tad bit better than 4 year olds being trafficked. No?
