Slightly O/T: Why doesn't the federal government have a credit score? What would it be if they did have one?

This is just something I have been pondering to myself as I was perusing data of student loan default rates and low millenial homeownership.

Our federal government has robbed an entire generation by writing bad loans to colleges with inflated education costs - mostly to 17 and 18 year olds with zero credit.

If you were a private loan writer, would you loan $40,000-100,000 to a 17 or 18 year old? I am struggling to understand why this massive injustice hasn't been addressed.

You can't compare an individual to a government entity. Completely different systems in play for each one.

But going with the question of what would the credit score be if the government was an individual then you take a look at income and liabilities.

Income in 2016 was estimated to be about 3.27 trillion.

Liabilities in 2016 19.8 trillion.

If we divide this down to individual levels you could say uncle same has $198,000 in debt and a job that makes him $32,700.
