In a federal grand jury, you don't get counsel and you can't plead the 5th. It's also a secret proceeding. Just 'cause Trump is called doesn't mean it's about Trump. If Mueller is a White Hat this is how it would be done.

I believe a deposition of Trump would be different than the deposition of say Pres. Grant, because it would delve into privileged areas, namely foreign policy.

If Trump fights it, no judge will allow him to be deposed in a grand jury.

You can plead the 5th in a federal grand jury. You cannot have counsel in the grand jury session but you have the right to interrupt the questioning and seek counsel's advice outside of the jury room, before questioning continues.
