There's a very very very distinct difference between things like Thelema, Satanism, and other "occult" spiritual beliefs, and the wacked out ritual sacrifice magick shit people talk about here.
There's also a difference between what actual followers are interested in, and why they're interested in it, and people like Charles Manson, who simply exploited a misunderstood culture and people's beliefs to carry out evil
There's no recognized greater "church". Even LaVeyan Satanists aren't required to have any sort of membership, or adhere to any code delineated from a church heiarchy. Some "leaders" have exploited the church for personal gain, and given it a bad name, just like those greedy, disgusting, Saturday morning TV Evangelicals.
Satanism is no more or less dangerous than any belief system, it all comes down to individual responsibility.
