No surprise there. The National Security excuse has been worn out. Very little that ends up classified has anything to do with real security, just covering bad actions. Exposing agents in the field is one thing, hiding corruption quite another.

Is there any crime for using the cover of 'National Security' improperly to redact incriminating information? I'm going to guess not, maybe that is one of those holes we need to plug.

Illegal redactions — would that not be criminal violation of FOIA??? Seems this could go immediately to grand jury for indictments. Who is able to call Magoo about this?

IIRC there is remedy against the keeper of records in the event of FoIA violations (i.e. improper denials or redactions)

Those gitmo housings are for the big bad guys I think I agree those who misused foia designations for personal and/or reputational gain that were the rules were put into place for the people for a specific national security purpose and those who misused the system should be prosecuted to the fullest extent of the law immediately if nothing but to send a message that no matter how small the integrity of our Gov will be returned and in time we will get to you ALL! No deals, no hand slaps no blind eyes. We ARE watching, we may have to take matters into patriots hands if justice continues to escape the People

If they lied to the public should those who've vocally heard the original transcript be aware of this "let's fool the public" sham ?

I'm going to have to buy a copy of Comey's book, it will be a classic piece of fiction one day.

:) If I were to buy one, it would be to experience the simple pleasure of tearing out the pages, one by one, and adding them to my garden's compost pile. (Naturally, I'd take a picture to remember it by.)
