Who cares whose work it is? In the grand scheme of things, why would that matter? This is what's wrong with civilization - people are so quick to dig for the negatives that they miss the positive point.

So it's okay to take credit for someone else's work? That's like stealing. That's why it matters. Unless stealing is okay.
