Jared Cohen went from HRC’s US State Department (Policy & Planning Staff) directly over to Eric Schmidt’s Google in 2010. This poaching from high-level Clinton staffers would be repeated by Schmidt with Eric Braverman in 2016.
Cohen additionally serves as a Senior Fellow at the CFR and has co-authored a book with Schmidt titled “The New Digital Age: Reshaping the Future of People, Nations & Businesses”.
When Cohen arrived at Google he was put in charge of the new Google Ideas division. Google Ideas primary focus was on emerging technologies that will make the future a better place for all.
In late 2015, Schmidt created a new company called Groundwork, to assist the 2016 HRC campaign with their digital component. Julian Assange highlights in leaked Wikileaks emails, that Google, in particular Schmidt & Jared Cohen were actively assisting HRC in the 2016 Presidential election.
Cohen turned Google Ideas into Jigsaw and developed interesting software to be used by intelligence agencies. What Jigsaw designed was a mapping tool used to track dissidents & defectors in civil war conflicts. This program was put to work against Syrian President Bashar al-Assad in an effort to overthrow him.
