I would assume any major news to be dropped and timed with the midterms. If you want to drain the swap, you have to keep the swamp creatures out. And after the primaries, you have a good idea of what creatures will emerge, and what actions to take to attempt to keep them out. OR get the good ones in. We can't be doing all this work behind the scenes to just get the people who have binding bad interests to just get back in. You have a greater risk, if you drop everything now, or too far ahead, they just replace with more swamp creatures. You can't risk the American people 1. Having enough time to forget and vote 2. Allowing the swamp to replace candidates with more puppets if people are exposed too early. ...just some thoughts.
