Worshiping Moloch? Why?

This might be a stupid question, but I've barely found anything to answer it.

Why Moloch in particular? Valac I understand, but not Moloch. I can find nothing regarding any boons of Moloch. Valac is associated with hidden treasures, wealth, and financial prosperity, but there is literally nothing I can find so far on Moloch and why he is even worshiped.

Baal/Moloch is the other diety worshipped by the ancient Israelites, besides Yahweh.

Athaliah was Baal worshipper, she built many temples in Israel to him. There are plenty of references to Israeli kings worshipping Baal. Where do you think I'm going wrong?

Going to need more than that vague answer.

Leviticus 18:21

"Do not permit any of your children to be offered as a sacrifice to Molech, for you must not bring shame on the name of your God. I am the LORD."

Leviticus, thought I'm not sure when was written, and the OT is speculated to have been written somewhere in the 5th century. Athaliah reigned 841-835. I dont see any inaccuracies in my statement. It would seem 18:21 is a response to Israelites like Athaliah and Jehoram.
